USC's Approach to Satellite-Based, Hands-On, Training: The Engineering Teaching Hospital
Abstract
The Space Engineering Research Center at the Viterbi School of Engineering of the University of Southern California is driving to deliver its second spacecraft vehicle for launch in June of 2012. It marks the next level of achievement for a center that uses a teaching hospital model that combines industry professionals and research professors and their students to execute six projects in as many years and propel the academic and professional careers of nearly one-hundred undergraduate, master’s and graduate students. This paper describes the implementation of this approach, some student’s eye views of the process and an overview of past and current projects.
