Burns sees his mission at ISI as creating links between the biologists at University park campus and the computer scientists at ISI.

The use of Intelligent Tutoring Systems( ITS) and other high-tech learning tools is increasing across the nation.

The goal of the project is to model information networks, according to Dr. Shen.

The syllabus also looks forward to increasing ties with the USC Roski School of Fine Arts and the USC Annenberg School for Communication.

The system is called The National Innovation Collaboration Ecosystem, and its aim is to put the U.S. in an increasingly competitive position across world markets.

The ROV is an old design, built commercially more than 20 years ago, that Shen’s laboratory has reconstructed and modernized.

Robert Neches’ group, co-led by Pedro Szekely, began work last spring on the project.

Jerry Hobbs and Kevin Knight, the fifth and sixth recipients of this honor, were honored at a reception May 15 at ISI.

The pair will present a paper at the April 2006 Infocom High-Speed Networking Conference in Barcelona.
